The British Academy of Jewellery (BAJ) is a growing jewellery college headquartered in London catering to students aged 16 and above. They provide further and higher education courses in jewellery and related disciplines. They have sites in many cities.
BAJ is using Pellcomp’s PICS to manage their students and applications.
As with other colleges offering degree courses, HESA requires reports to be submitted annually.
HESA’s new Data Futures format requires much more data than before, and in the near future, will require submittals every few months. Although in the past, BAJ produced these reports manually using exports from PICS and using the HESA-supplied data entry tool, the new requirements meant that this approach was labour-intensive and thus inefficient.
HESA is moving to reports being needed on a more frequent basis. With BAJ’s current growth, 2,500 students are expected to be reported on to HESA in 2025. and more are coming. The demands of administering the college are increasing, and BAJ needed a HESA reporting tool which could integrate with PICS to reduce the HESA reporting burden. So BAJ looked for potential software solution suppliers and found Simply Digital.
Simply Digital proposed and developed a reporting tool using ADAM that would import exported PICS data and convert it into the required HESA format with a single click.
The tool checks the data for validity and makes sure all data are correct and meet HESA’s coverage requirements. The system went live in August 2024.
